Functional Limitations

DDD looks at the functional limitations of each individual during the assessment process.  They need to know about anything that your loved one may struggle with.  Here are they areas of limitation that they focus on:

Self-care- Does your child need help with hygiene, bathing etc.?

Receptive and expressive language- Are there communication issues with others?

Learning- Can they learn and retain new information?

Mobility- Can they walk?  Are they meeting their milestones developmentally?

Self-direction- Can manage their personal responsibilities like finances etc.?  Can they advocate for themselves?

Capacity for independent living- Do they need supervision and assistance on a regular/daily basis?

Economic self-sufficiency- Can they be financially independent?

** If you need to, make yourself an outline and make sure you tell the eligibility worker everything, even if it seems like a small detail, share it all!
